PLANNING THE TRIP

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Don’t forget to take your passport. It is always a good idea to keep a photocopy of your passport in your possession, but separate from the original. Immunisations are not required.

BAGGAGE LIMITATIONS:

Travellers are limited to 70 pounds each and one carry on bag on international flights. Expect overweight charges if you exceed these limits. The weight limit for internal Argentina flights is 40 pounds. Excess luggage can be stored in Buenos Aires if needed.

CURRENCY:

Depends on the rate exchange. The dollar bill is wanted everywhere and we suggest you take up to fifty one dollar bills and several five, ten and twenty dollar bills to use for small purchases and tipping. If needed, you can exchange money at most hotels and banks. Traveller’s are accepted but expect service fees up to 5 %. All major credit cards are accepted in Argentina.

MEDICATION:

Long distance travellers should always pack medication kits for such common complaints as diarrhoea, upset stomach, motion sickness, headache and irregularity. Of course, include any prescription medications you normally require. Most visitors to Argentina don’t experience stomach problems associated with drinking water; nevertheless, it always pays to have treatment available. However, water and food is outstanding, when in doubt ask for bottled water. Carlos Sanchez & Co. recommends trip insurance as an extra precaution in case of unexpected illness or emergency.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Insects aren’t a big problem in Argentina, but you may encounter a few mosquitoes, so pack some insect repellent. You should also pack sunscreen, lip balm and, of course, lots of film with your camera. Electricity is 220v, so you may want to bring and adapter kit.

GRATUITIES:

Gratuities are discretionary and are not included in your package price. At Los Ombues we suggest a maximum of  USD70 per shooter per day to cover all staff.
Private drivers tips depend on time spent with you , USD 10 to USD 50.
Restaurants : 10-15 % in cash .
Hotel bellboys: USD 1 per piece of luggage.
Guide services in Buenos Aires: USD 50 – USD 100 depending on time spent in Buenos Aires.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES:

We recommend that you purchase your favourite alcoholic beverage at the duty free shop upon departure or arrival. Certain brands of liquor are hard to find and very expensive in Argentina.
