The dove hunter's blog

BECAUSE  of its proximity to Buenos Aires: You do not depend on a connecting flight to reach Los Ombues. Once you get to EZE in just four hours in a very comfortable van you arrive at the lodge and you can start to hunt without running the risk of missing a flight or  for various reasons face a flight cancelation, as has happened lately for example due to the  volcanic ash that has caused many troubles to hunters going for example to Córdoba, having to spend a day or more in Buenos Aires missing hunt days or the entire trip.
Or you just jump on a charter plane arranged by Los Ombúes. It takes only 50 minute to land at our private landing strip located at only five minutes from the  house.
BECAUSE  Los Ombues Lodge is  sitting on a bluff overlooking the vast fields and wetlands, it is a beautiful 12,000 sq. ft red brick and yellow stucco building constructed in authentic Argentine style. The lounge and dining room look out across an endless expanse of the Delta and the viewer may see half a dozen blinds just a little over half a mile away through the panoramic windows, because of all this there  is NO OTHER LODGE IN ARGENTINA THAT LIKE LOS OMBUES.
Carlos Sanchez built the lodge for bird hunting and everything about it reflects his passion for the sport and an understanding of what makes a high quality shooting experience.  Dove and duck hunts are on the property, close to the lodge; every bit of equipment – vehicles, boats, rental guns – is perfectly maintained; and the staff is organized to keep things running smoothly.   After a day of memorable shooting, you sink into a comfortable chair at the lodge among a dozen other shooters.
BECAUSE Los Ombúes is one of the few lodges in Argentina that owns the land where we shoot, we shoot in our own land  so we have control on where to shoot. We do not have any competitors around and you only hear the sound of your gun and not from other hunters shooting in the surroundings.
BECAUSE at Los Ombúes you not only shoot doves, you can also Fish Dorados. Where can you do this except at Los Ombúes?
This lodge has been designed specifically to cover the highest expectations of our customers and we are dedicated to improve year after year which is demonstrated by the return and continuous support of our hunters.
When we first started, we had only 6 rooms, today we have 9 rooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning in each room. Then add a beautiful place to enjoy outside barbeques, we build the pool and two years ago we added the Spa with  Hot-Tub Jacuzzi, gym and sauna. Any  doubt that Ombúes is THE PLACE?
Approximately 20 million dove inhabit the area around Los Ombues. The shooting challenges shooters of all skill levels.  Beginners will enjoy the incredible number of birds, while advanced shooters can pick and choose their shots opting to take only the most difficult shots or practice their most challenging swings. Non-Stop dove shooting can be had throughout the day but the early morning and late afternoon and evening hours are best.  There are no limits on dove in Argentina, and the season is open year-round.  Skilled shooters should expect to shoot 3-5 cases of shells each day.

Hello Carlos
I want to thank you, your brother and the staff once again for a wonderful trip.  You have the best managed hunting operation I have been to in the world.  When a guest thinks that things look smooth and simple, there has obviously been a tremendous amount of work and planning behind the scenes to get to that point.  Of tremendous importance, the quality of the hunting you offer is outstanding.   Even the weather cooperated.   I hope to see you again.
Keep 'em flying!

Hello Carlos

Situation that has arisen in the South of Argentina due to volcano eruption in Chile:

This volcano and the affected area is more than  2000 kilometers (1242.742 miles) away from the city of Buenos Aires and more than 2500 (1553.473 miles) kilometers of the area where  Los Ombúes is located, and due to winds blowing for two days from the South, ashes are in the air  in a  very small scale in the city of Buenos Aires and surrounding areas, but even so, we must say that the city is NOT covered by ash neither is Los Ombúes covered by ashes. More flights were cancelled and airports were closed in Buenos Aires for the last two days, the airlines are being overly cautious as we know that ashes can damage the aircraft. This happened two years ago and it took a few days to get everything back to normal. We are expecting that the situation goes to normal this afternoon.

The city of Buenos Aires is not covered by ashes, nor is the province of Entre Rios, where Los Ombúes lodge is located, so no precautions should be taken before coming to Buenos Aires and there is no need of any supplies or any dust masks for the fields.

The hunt as our clients report, is the best they have had since they come to Los Ombúes, there was never much duck as this year.

Looking forward to host you in the near future!!
